Ride A Pet Fastest Pets: Verified Top Speed Ranking
Kitsune leads Ride A Pet's speed ranking at 1B base speed, with Dragon at 300M and Cerberus at 100M. See the full ranked speed table, mutation multipliers, and which upgrades are worth chasing.
Kitsune is the fastest pet in Ride A Pet right now from the stats we have, with 1 billion base speed. Dragon is the money pick, not the speed pick — it has 300M base speed (also the best income at 300M base income), while Cerberus sits at 100M. All values below are community-reported snapshots from mid-September 2026, so re-read a pet's stat card in-game after any balance patch.
Top speed ranking
| Rank | Pet | Base Speed | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Kitsune | 1B | Also the highest jump stat (170) |
| 2 | Dragon | 300M | Best income pet at 300M base income |
| 3 | Cerberus | 100M | |
| 4 | Phoenix | 1M | |
| 5 | T-Rex | 266K | |
| 6 | Unicorn | 137K | |
| 7 | Cheetah | 38.4K | |
| 8 | Giraffe | 27.4K | |
| 9 | Fox | 19.5K | |
| 10 | Ostrich | 6.96K |
How speed is measured
Each pet's stat card shows the same four values — hatch chance, base speed, base jump, and base income — plus a base weight that sits at 10kg across the entire roster. Weight never separates one pet from another, so ignore it. Base speed is the stat that gates map progress, since faster pets reach rarer eggs. Compare the printed base speed numbers directly instead of judging a hatch by rarity or looks: speed and hatch chance climb together for most of the list, but not perfectly, so a common pet can sit at or above the speed of a rarer one.
Starter pets: what to replace first
| Pet | Hatch Chance | Base Speed | Income |
|---|---|---|---|
| Snail | 1 in 2 | 15 | 3% |
| Turtle | 1 in 5 | 50 | 5% |
| Sloth | 1 in 20 | 90 | 7% |
| Axolotl | 1 in 30 | 165 | 9% |
| Koala | 1 in 50 | 300 | 5% |
| Capybara | 1 in 100 | 407 | 20% |
| Chicken | 1 in 150 | 553 | 25% |
| Pig | 1 in 200 | 750 | 30% |
| Elephant | 1 in 300 | 1.02K | 35% |
| Panda | 1 in 1K | 1.38K | 50% |
Snail is the worst pet in the game on every reading, with 15 base speed and 3% income. Elephant is the milestone — the first pet on the ladder to break 1,000 base speed. Once a pet's speed crosses into the thousands, everything in this bracket stops being useful for anything except filling the index.
Mid-game speed ladder
| Pet | Hatch Chance | Base Speed |
|---|---|---|
| Kangaroo | 1 in 3K | 3.05K |
| Deer | 1 in 9K | 3.25K |
| Spider | 1 in 25K | 3.69K |
| Crocodile | 1 in 75K | 3.94K |
| Gorilla | 1 in 150K | 4.48K |
| Snake | 1 in 180K | 4.78K |
| Horse | 1 in 500K | 5.34K |
| Wolf | 1 in 700K | 5.71K |
| Shark | 1 in 1M | 6.10K |
| Lion | 1 in 1.2M | 6.52K |
| Ostrich | 1 in 1.5M | 6.96K |
Shark, Wolf, and Horse are the straightforward upgrades — they simply post higher speed and income than everything below them. Ostrich is the ceiling of the mid-game group and its clearest income jump (750%), though its 86 jump is the weakest in the bracket. Note the ladder isn't perfect: Spider at 1 in 25K is far easier to obtain than Gorilla or Snake yet sits in the same speed range with a standout 129 jump.
Mutation speed multipliers
Mutations drastically increase a pet's movement speed when used as a mount, and they multiply rather than add to base speed. Community-reported multipliers:
| Mutation | Multiplier |
|---|---|
| Shocked | 2x speed and cash |
| Volted | 3x |
| Rage | 4x |
| Void | 10x |
| Eternal | 100x |
Mutations come from weather events (storm lightning): eggs and pets in your pen or placed on the ranch can be struck during the event, and pets sitting in your inventory cannot be mutated. A single pet cannot hold multiple mutations, but if a mutated pet is struck by a higher-tier mutation during a storm, the lower-tier one is automatically replaced — low-tier mutations cannot overwrite higher-tier ones. Because the multiplier acts on base speed, a mutated mid-tier pet can outrun an unmutated rarer one, so your best mutation target is your fastest pet. The developer publishes no multiplier table, so treat these values as community-reported.
Speed upgrades worth chasing by progression stage
Tips
Starter stage
Axolotl is the strongest starter option at 165 speed; replace Snail (15), Turtle (50), and Sloth (90) as soon as something meaningful hatches.
Mid game
Horse (5.34K), Wolf (5.71K), Shark (6.1K) — Shark is the highest-speed stepping stone of this group.
Late mid
Ostrich (6.96K), Fox (19.5K), Giraffe (27.4K), Cheetah (38.4K) — Cheetah is a strong pre-endgame speed pick.
Trillion-rarity tier
Unicorn (137K), T-Rex (266K), Phoenix (1M).
Endgame
Cerberus (100M) is the single most dramatic jump — a hundredfold increase over Phoenix. Then Dragon (300M) and Kitsune (1B) as the final speed goal.
General rule
Upgrade when the speed increase is actually noticeable — spending heavily on a pet that's only slightly faster usually isn't worth it if a much bigger upgrade is close. Kitsune wins speed while Dragon wins money, so pick based on which bottleneck is actually limiting you.
Data freshness notes
- All speed values are community-reported snapshots from mid-September 2026; the developer adjusts pet speeds in balance passes without publishing a change list, so opening a pet and reading its stat card in the live experience is the reliable check after any patch.
- Kitsune's 1B and Dragon's 300M are reported figures, not developer-confirmed — treat the ranking as the stats we have today, not a permanent order.
- Speed isn't the whole picture: jump values matter for elevated routes (Spider's 129 jump exceeds many faster pets), so this ranking is not a full route-capability ranking.
