Ride A Pet Hatching Guide: Carry, Nest, and Hatch Eggs

Pick up an egg, ride it home before the "Egg Will Break" timer expires, drop it into an empty nest with the "Place Egg In Nest" prompt, dismount, then hatch it and place the pet on your plot. The egg only counts once it is home, and if the timer runs out mid-trip it is lost forever.

Picking up and carrying eggs: the Egg Basket

A collected egg goes into your Egg Basket and stays there while the countdown runs. The basket has a strict limit — once it reads "Egg Basket Is Full", head home and unload before collecting anything else, because a full basket stops new pickups and silently disables them, which is what breaks most farming routes. Check the basket counter before starting a hunt and watch it change when you collect: if the counter does not change, the pickup did not register.

Carrying an egg also slows you down, so a long return trip on a slow pet can run the clock out before you arrive. Use your fastest mount for the return and skip detours to protect the egg already in hand. The run is only finished when you cross onto your own plot, marked by the My Plot sign and your ranch name.

The egg break timer

The moment you pick an egg up, an "Egg Will Break" countdown starts, and the egg only counts once it is home. If the timer expires on the way home, the egg is lost forever and you get nothing. Observed break windows are short and vary by egg: roughly 20 seconds on common pickups, about 30 seconds reported on rarer eggs, and as tight as 21 seconds for Ethereal-rarity Cherub and Blackhole Eggs, which also spawn very far from the main hub. Treat these as approximate — the exact window depends on the egg and can change with updates.

If the "Egg Will Break" warning appears, prioritize the shortest path home, even over detours, and take the fastest pet you own. Faster pets are the real fix: higher-rarity and mutated pets move faster, which shortens every egg run. Disconnecting or leaving the server while the timer is active also loses the egg, so only start a high-value run on a stable connection with enough time to finish it.

Placing the egg in a nest and starting the hatch

   • Ride back to My Plot and use the 'Place Egg In Nest' prompt on an empty nest.

   • Simple eggs can be around 3 minutes; rarer eggs show much longer growth times, with observed examples from 20 minutes to several hours.

   Claim the result and put it to work.

   • Hatch and read the result: a named pet card with its rarity and speed.
   • Place the pet on your plot individually or with Place Best, then touch placed pets to collect their banked cash.

If you have multiple nest slots, keep them all filled — an empty nest is wasted hatching time, and more active nests means more pets generated over the same amount of time. Hatch in batches rather than walking to one nest per egg.

Growth timers, night cycles, and skipping the wait

Once an egg is placed, a growth/hatch timer runs while it sits in the nest. Simple eggs can finish in around 3 minutes, while rarer eggs show much longer waits — reported timers include roughly 20 minutes, 2 hours, and up to about 6–8 hours on the rarest eggs. The game offers a paid "skip growth" option (about 20 Robux observed) that opens the egg immediately.

Timing placement against the day/night cycle helps: eggs grow faster at night, reported at roughly 10x growth speed during a ~3-minute night cycle, so placing an egg just before nightfall shortens the effective wait. A default hatch cooldown also exists between manual hatches; the Instant Hatch pass (149 Robux) removes that wait without changing rarity odds.

Weather events can mutate eggs already placed in the nest

Eggs placed in the nest/pen can be mutated during weather events before they hatch. Weather events (Thunder/Shocked, Volt/Volted, Rage, Void, Eternal) last about 5 minutes and apply mutation chances to eggs on the map and to pets/eggs in your pen. Because mutated eggs can hatch mutated pets — Shocked gives a 2x speed/money/sale multiplier, up to 100x for Eternal — players holding high-rarity eggs may deliberately place them in the nest and wait for a weather event before hatching. Pets sitting in the hotbar/inventory cannot be mutated this way.

What Hatch Luck changes (and what it does not)

Hatch Luck is the multiplier that decides how often an egg turns into something better than a common starter pet; you raise it at the upgrade board on your own plot, ideally before cracking a batch of eggs rather than after. A 100x luck upgrade was observed raising the multiplier dramatically in one session.

Two boundaries matter. First, the displayed luck stat layers on top of an underlying per-egg probability, and each hatch is independent — a run of common results does not raise the next roll's chance. Second, an egg's rarity is set when it is picked up, not when it hatches; the hatch screen just reveals what the egg already was, and a rarity badge on an egg is a probability, not a guarantee.

Reading a hatch result and deciding what to keep

When an egg pops, do three things in order:

1. Read the speed number (and the rarity tag in the top-right of the hatch panel).
2. Compare it to your current main mount.
3. Decide whether to swap, bench, or sell/place it.

Nest/egg color is a hint, not a guarantee — the reliable rarity signal is the hatch panel: Common is grey/pale, Uncommon green, Rare blue, Epic purple, Legendary gold, Mythic red/rainbow depending on the panel. A new pet auto-equips only if your Active slot was empty; otherwise it drops into a passive slot and your current ride stays active. Before selling a newly hatched pet, check whether it fills a missing Index entry — new Index species pay one-time cash rewards (observed at $1,000 and $5,000) — and sell only weak duplicates.

Egg breaks on the way home

The break timer expired. Use your fastest pet, plan the return route before pickup, and prioritize the shortest path the moment the 'Egg Will Break' warning appears.

Egg lost entirely

You disconnected or left the server while the timer was active. Only start a high-value run on a stable connection and with enough time.

Can't pick up an egg

The basket/backpack is full. Check the basket counter first; return to My Plot and process stored eggs, then retry and confirm the counter changes after pickup.

Egg won't hatch at the nest

You are still mounted. Dismount — the game requires you to get off your pet before the hatch starts.

Hatch result seems wrong for the egg color

Egg color is only a hint; the rarity was fixed at pickup and the hatch panel border is the true signal. One hatch result is not a probability.

Slow overall hatch volume

Keep every nest slot active and hatch in batches rather than walking to one nest per egg.

One note on placement: hatching happens at home in nests on your own plot. Once the egg is in the nest, whether simply crossing the My Plot boundary stops the break timer versus requiring actual nest placement is not established — placing the egg in an empty nest before the visible timer expires is the safe confirmation.
